:- 3.0 out of 5 stars from Lisa L Teetz -- The Rockstar and the Writer! : I loved the blurb and was excited to read about the Rockstar and the writer. I really liked Emory and River. They were both very grounded, both craving connection, both struggling to overcome things from their past. I am not normally a fan of insta-lust but it worked here right from the start when they first met at the club. It was immediate, it was SAF, and it sucked me in right away. I was really invested in their story. Their was a lot of steam in this book, at first it really worked, was very erotic, and very intimate. Then it became a little too much. I wanted them to jump into bed less and talk more. I found myself skimming some of it to get to more conversation as they tried to determine their future together. That initial connection I felt in the beginning between them dwindled a bit with their inability to just talk to each other about what they wanted. I also really liked Iris and the deep friendship he and River had, but Iris was in the book a lot and I felt I ended up knowing more about his past and demons than I did about River and Emory. River and Emory do get their HEA but for such a long book it did feel a little rushed at the end. I am very intrigued by the band members and anxious to see who book 2 will be about! JR Gray's words are magical. Everything about River & Emory is amazing. Loved their story, loved their chemistry & loved the work that they had to put into making their love work. There is something so special about River. I can't put it into words everything about this book that really spoke to me but I want my own River (shhh, don't tell my husband!!) There he meets River Wade a drummer for a famous band, who initially Emory did not recognize. Their initial meeting had been hot. Sparks flying and their chemistry is off the charts. However, circumstances from Emory's past made him wary of having more while River definitely thinks that what is between them is something more and he is not giving it up that easily. A drummer for a crazy popular band, touring the world just wanted a connection. Touch. Intimacy. Meeting Emory was a chance which River was ready to walk away from after the first night kiss 💋. This is exactly how I felt. I tuned out everything in reality to read. My fingers could not turn the pages quickly enough. When I had to charge my tablet, I didn't know what to do with myself. I had to get back to Gray's words, to River and Emroy. I needed them in my lives, so I could read finish the book. There is angst, love, romance and omg hotness! These two could not keep their hands off each other. You won't understand until you read this story. I am not sorry either, if you can't put it down until you have completed this book. First was the gorgeous cover, second was the blurb, how could you not be curious and I have to applaud Lavender on her stamina 😂 and thirdly I have read a few books by this author and I like their style and the gentle humour they usually weave into the story. There's some angst but, despite this, it really is a sweet love story. Emory and River really work well together, which made for a good start to the series. Looking forward to the next bookbook.
